Friday, February 03, 2012 Mid Winter Auction is online!
The Mid Winter Auction is online and accepting bids. Catalogs will be mailed tomorrow(Feb 3rd)- please call us 1-866-861-2330 if you haven't received one by Feb 8th. If you have a collecting friend who would like a free copy- call or shoot me an email- and we will mail one out to them -pronto. JoAnn did another great job on the catalog and we hope you enjoy it. I especially like the Steve Mix Memorabilia which is featured at the beginning of Day 2- especially that All Star game jersey! Some say the auction catalog makes great reading material (I often like to curl up with a good sports auction catalog next to my fireplace on a cold winter's evening........ok that's kinda creepy.....) There ended up being 920 lots in the auction, All ending February 14th, 15th, or 16th. We thank you for reading the blog and being a customer of Kevin Savage Cards! Kevin

We hope you can find something in the auctions which fits your collecting interests. This years National Sports Collectors Convention will be held in Chicago at the Rosemont Convention Center in early August. We will provide more information on the show as the dates get closer- but we will be strong buyers of vintage cards and collectibles at the show. Wednesday, December 15, 2010 Happy Holidays!
Happy Holidays from all of us at Kevin Savage Cards. We really appreciate you being one of our customers- and hope 2011 brings us a little better economy and a lot of great cards and collectibles. As the year ends we would like to especially remember all of our customers who were with us this time last year- but have moved on to "the big card show in the sky". We'd especially like to remember Bill from New York and Don from Wisconsin. We probably talked to these two superstsr collectors a thousand times each-and we sure miss 'em. They both had a real affinity for baseball cards- and were true hobby experts and gentlemen.

Friday, August 13, 2010 National 2010 Review
We have returned from the National in Baltimore- and what a show it was. The crowds were overall very good- and there were great buys to be had(and we had 'em). We also sold many cards and card sets- and met many customers including at least 100 or so auction bidders. Meeting our regular customers is one of the most important reasons why we exhibit at card shows. Putting a face with a name and a bidder# is priceless. The leadup to this year's show was filled with anxiety as we tried to handicap a new National city, a convention center we had never visited, and a downtown setting we were not familiar with. From our vantage point- the convention center, the ballpark, the hotel, and the inner harbor area- could have not been more convenient. Parking was expensive($26 a day!!!!)- but everything was easily within walking distance. We attended a couple Orioles games, enjoyed some great meals- and most nights loved our Baltimore Hilton hotel. (* there was a shooting on the 4th floor on Tuesday night- domestic dispute of some kind-the rest of the week was "gunfire free"...) Overall- I can't imagine a more convenient setting for our National Show. The show was very active with many collectors selling us there duplicates and extra items, and buying needed items from us. I felt there was some pent up "east coast demand" - as the show had not been to the eastern seaboard in many years. Many collectors almost begged us to bring the show back there in the not too distant future. This was nice to hear. To those of you who stopped by to see us- thanks for your continued business and awesome hospitality. I hope the National is back in Baltimore in 2014.

Tuesday, June 29, 2010 Summer is here.....
Summer is here at Kevin Savage Cards, and we hope to make a dent in our backstock of collections which have been collecting dust in our massive warehouse. We should be offering hundreds and hundred of bulk lots, player groups, and complete sets over the next few months. Check out our auctions on the website and on ebay for the goods. This summer we have 3 seasonal workers- Kevin, Meredith, and Riley. They are mostly doing organizational work and scanning and posting pictures to our auction site. Occassionally you may talk to one of them on the phone- and though they have gone though extensive training- please be patient with them. As always, We really appreciate your business at Kevin Savage Cards. We look forward to serving your collecting needs.

Tuesday, July 07, 2009 McNair Dead.......
Wow. It is hard to believe that Steve McNair is dead. Shot dead- 4 Bullets. Somebody wasn't messin around. As great of an NFL player as he was- he is always going to be remembered for how he died. I guess that can be a lesson for us all. Who wants to be remembered as a 37 year old married man and father- gunned down with or by his 20 year old girlfriend. Not me.....We are all human - and make mistakes- but we must strive to be the best people we can be. Tonight I'll say a prayer for Steve McNair and his family and hope the indignity of his death is a wake up call for all who sway from the path.

Friday, July 03, 2009 We are closing at 4 pm on July 3rd......
In an effort to honor our great nation- and beat some of the holiday traffic- we will be closing Friday July 3rd at 4 pm. We will be open on Monday July 6th at our customary 8 am. (Who works harder than us........?) We sure hope you enjoy your holiday weekend- and enjoy the blog. From our corporate offices just down the street from the Northwest Ohio Windfarm- comes this week's Top Ten List: Top Ten Ways to Know The Government doesn't want you to collect cards anymore.... 10. New "Cap in Cards" legislation gets passed.... 9. New Al Gore proposal mandates building new windmills out of old baseball cards.... 8. Somebody who resembles Al Gore comes to your house and takes your cards for windmill project.... 7. Hundreds of collectors are injured as they refuse to let go of their cards and fall from windmills.... 6. Government bails out Topps- and immediately makes special "U.S. Senators Set" which is very popular with no one...(The Supreme Court autographed inserts are well received however......) 5. In what is widely suspected as a bailout for the dentistry industry- special Government action puts "extra hard gum" back in wax packs.... 4. New government regulations specify Cuban cards as enemy combatants and in a related statement- "Rubber banding cards" now considered unreasonable form of torture...... 3. SCD is replaced with government owned "Windmills Today".....(Coaches Corner has 26 page auction in issue #1) 2. New government proposal makes it a goal to "Move card collectors into the mainstream" by showing them the benefits of collecting normal stuff like unemployment and food stamps...... 1. "In God We Trust" replaced with "Don't Collect Cards" on newly printed U.S. currency......... Thanks for reading!

Friday, July 03, 2009 Meredith Answers the phones.........
Tonight we got through Auction #1571- and our new hire Meredith helped answer the phones. She really liked it - though said "it isn't as much fun as texting boys"...... I don't text. I don't know if that is because I'm old, inflexible, or just "old and inflexible"..... I think texting is kind of rude. I especially hate it when I am trying to talk with someone and they are texting at the same time. I feel like I am giving 100% of my undivided attention to the conversation- BUT I am just a small part of the texting person's "multitasking"...... I could do without that.... So don't text me......I'm not texting back...... Thanks to all who bid in the auctions this week- they were quite busy. As always we appreciate all of your bids and business!

Tuesday, June 23, 2009 Welcome to Summer
Well it's finally summer here in Ohio- as the temps surge into the 80's - and the pools and beaches are crowded with "people who haven't lost that winter weight quite yet"...... Here at Kevin Savage Cards we keep working through several big collections we purchased in May- and we will continue to offer our customary two auctions per week. Helping us out this summer are two part time employees. The first is Nick, a 21 year old college student who enjoys long walks in the park, french cooking, and hopes to meet a girl who collects football cards and loves him for who he is. The other summer hire is Meredith, a high school senior who has regular dreams involving baseball cards and actually has constructed a chair out of 1980's Donruss commons. (It is sturdy- yet uncomfortable)She does a lot of scanning on the computer ( I kid her that she is from Scananavia), and she will attempt to organize our warehouse this summer. Good luck with that one..... I hope your summer is off to a great start. If there is anything I can do to help with your collecting experience- please feel free to email or call me toll free 1-866-861-2330. Thanks for reading the blog- and being one of our customers!
